They needn’t have touched me,
Needn’t have laid a finger,
The scent of the predator,
In saturated air, does linger,
They needn’t have moved,
Needn’t have stirred at all,
Their tainted thoughts pulsating,
Psychic pounding at my high walls,
They needn’t have said a word,
Needn’t have tried to disguise,
The thirst that was in their voice,
The lust that was in their eyes.
It needn’t always be physical,
Abuse can leave the body whole,
Rape can destroy the individual,
For, rape is a violation of soul.
